Call of Duty: WWII’s first Community Event Kicks Off Friday

Winter Siege brings new gear, a new mode, a new map and many more goodies through January 2nd.

Sledgehammer is launching a special holiday event for December. Beginning Friday, December 8th until Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 players will be able to take part in the Winter Siege. An event that will host special double XP playlists, features special daily orders, new gear, a new map, and free gifts just for logging on. The first week of activities is below but check out the event page for all three weeks of the event.

Double XP on Winter Siege Playlists

During the event, players will be able to earn double XP on winter maps in a special Winter Siege Playlist. This includes the Ardennes Forest and the new Winter Carentan map available for this event. Winter Carentan is a snow-covered variant on a fan favourite Call of Duty Map. This small French village has been recreated for CoD: WWII and looks pretty good in the event trailer.

The classic Gun Game mode has also returned just for the Winter Siege event. For those unfamiliar with Gun Game, it is a progressive mode where players must get their kills with the weapons the game provides. You can get better weapons or be knocked down a rank based on your performance. This limited time mode is available in a 2XP playlist from December 15th the 21st and as part of the Winter Carentan moshpit playlist from December 29 to January 2nd.

Special Event Weapons

HQ will receive a winter makeover and feature a new NPC to interact with. Captain Butcher is a British Special Operations Officer and the new Quartermaster for the duration of the Winter Siege. Visit him for limited-time weaponry and equipment. The contracts still seem absolutely ridiculous but good luck.

Bring new limited-time winter weapons into the heat of battle. Complete collections to earn special variants of the GPMG LMG, the Sten SMG, and the Gewehr 43 Assault Rifle, as well as devastating melee weapons like the Trench Knife and Ice Pick. These limited-time winter variants are only attainable until January 2, 2018, so get in on the action while you can.

New Outfits

Along with the new weapons, there will new outfits to unlock during the event. Airborne, Armored, Mountain, and Infantry will all receive new unlockable winter outfits. Sorry, Expeditionary.

Activision and Sledgehammer have put together a pretty impressive three-week event. The best part is it’s free to all players! All items will only be available to earn during the event so get out there soldier.
