Tales From Candlekeep: Tomb of Annihilation is a Dungeons and Dragons-style board game that was brought to the PC in October 2017. The single-player turn-based strategy game requires players to move through a map covered in a fog of war. Through exploration, one can encounter enemies and progress in the game. The game takes players to the peninusla of Chult, fighting through jungles, labyrinths and dungeons to counter the death curse that is overtaking the area. You can play as four adventurers (Artus Cimber, Asharra, Birdsong, and Dragonbait) in the course of the game. Players can utilize the crafting system to craft weapons, armor and accessories to face the challenges that lie ahead.
At PAX South 2018, BKOM Studios showcased the new character class, the Druid. “Qawasha is a member of the Emerald Enclave base in Fort Beluarian. The druid travels with a vegepymgy companion named Kupalué. Qawasha hopes to rid the jungle of the undead menace that haunts the area,” said BKOM Studios in a post to the game’s Steam Community Hub.
Some of the strengths of the game are that it is easy to pick up for those who are unfamiliar with turn-based strategy games. In the latest update to the game, dice rolls have been added, allowing those familiar with classic Dungeons & Dragons style-play to immerse themselves into the action. The dice rolls can be toggled on and off, set to be done automatically or manually, and all players can use the standard die. Custom dice skins are also available as DLC. The multiplayer mode is currently in development.
The game is available now on Steam.
