Match Settings

• The global settings are to be used for all game modes unless otherwise specified in the game modes specific section.
• The hosting team is responsible for setting up a private lobby match with the correct settings and the correct map. If the hosting team starts the game with the wrong settings, it will result in penalties for that map/mode. Please refer to the Penalties section of this rules page.

Reporting Cheating:

Breaking any rule and any form of cheating, glitching, abusing in-game mechanics, or unsportsmanlike behavior may results in a forfeit of a game, match, or ban from future tournaments at PLAYlive Nation. Cheating, glitching, and abusing in-game mechanics accusations must be verified by a tournament official. Accuser must have proof such as a screen shot, video, or have the Event Coordinator witness the cheating. Punishable unsportsmanlike behavior includes, but is not limited to, excessive use of foul or degrading language. For all cheating claims, the burden of proof is on the accuser.

Penalties

1. Settings: In the event that the host of a heat hosts the lobby with incorrect settings, the host may be forfeited the game.
2. Restricted Items: For free for all, the player who uses the restricted item(s) will be forfeited. Additional outcomes for the remainder of the match may occur depending on the extent of the restricted item use.
3. Premature Game Ending: In a free for all, the match should not be ended unless a player disconnects at the launch of the game.
4. Equipment: Players may not use a Turbo controller, a Button Macro controller or Keyboard/Mouse. Turbo controllers allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press the same button multiple times. Button Macro controllers allow Players to press a button that results in their Character performing a set of actions that would normally require the Player to press multiple buttons. The team using the ineligible equipment will forfeit that games of the match it was used on.
5. Warnings: Tournament Officials may issue a Warning for infractions including, but not limited to, the use of profane words or phrases, discussion of controversial religious topics, threats/implied violence, lack of punctuality, and failure to follow tournament staff instructions. All warnings and penalties are given to the individual player, not the group. Groups may also be warned or incur a penalty for repeated warnings in regards to the same rule. Depending on the severity of the action or conduct by a player, multiple warnings may be handed out for a single infraction, up to and including bypassing warnings and resulting in an immediate penalty.
6. Penalties: After a maximum of three (3) warnings, post-warning penalties, including but not limited to the following, may be enforced: A Game Forfeit or a Match Forfeit. Penalties may also be combined with other penalties.
7. Disqualification: Some infractions may result in warnings and penalties being bypassed with immediate disqualification from the remainder of the Tournament being enforced. Examples of behavior or actions that could result in this are physical acts violence, cheating, collusion/manipulating the bracket, drug/substance abuse on-site, any illegal activities, betting or gambling on a tournament or match results, hate speech, and harassment.

What is the PLAYlive Leaderboards Platform?

This online platform allows people in real life to compete against one another and be ranked based on the scores they achieve. These players are displayed in tables called "Leaderboards" where they're given a rank and related data is displayed.

What is a Leaderboard?

A leaderboard is simply a table that shows how players compared to one another based on the scores they achieved. Each unique leaderboard is given "Statistics" that make up the table's columns.

What is a Statistic?

A statistic is a piece of data that a leaderboard collects. It shows up in a leaderboard as one of the columns on display which shows a specific collected piece of data. For example, a leaderboard that ranks players against one another who have raced around a specific race track could have statistics like "Fastest Lap", "Car Used", "Crashes", "Assists", and so on. They're basically kind of data we need to collect when getting a score from a person who has competed.

What is an Event?

An event is a special day or time period that a store dictates where players can compete during that specific time so they can be ranked against each other in just that time span. Events can be a single "High Score Night", an ongoing League, or even a Tournament. Events help organize scores so they can be filtered and ranked against others who have competed in that same event.

How do I participate?

To compete against other gamers to see who's the best, just stop into your nearest PLAYlive store and ask to compete in one of the available leaderboards. The store's staff will help you out with the rest. Sometimes stores hold special events where you can only compete in one specific leaderboard for a limited time, so make sure to check if the leaderboard you want to participate in is available prior to playing.

I did something amazing at my house, can I submit that score to a leaderboard?

Unfortunately no. We require that all submitted scores are made inside of a PLAYlive so we can make sure that you're not cheating. Even if you have a picture of the TV with your score on it, we can't be sure you didn't manipulate that picture or use a modified controller to get that score. It helps us make sure all scores we have on display are accurate and are earned legitimately.
